The Electro Harmonix Big Muff Deluxe is a fuzz/distortion pedal that expands on the classic Big Muff circuit with added control over the midrange and noise. Its primary controls include Volume, Tone, and Sustain, which function similarly to the original: Volume sets the overall output level, Tone shapes the high-frequency response, and Sustain adjusts the amount of fuzz gain and compression. Beyond these, the Deluxe adds a dedicated Mid control that boosts or cuts the midrange frequencies, allowing the pedal to sit differently in a mix. A Wicker switch, when engaged, alters the tone circuit to provide a brighter, less filtered sound. The pedal also includes a Noise Gate section with a Threshold knob to clamp down on hiss and hum when not playing. An effects loop is integrated, enabling external pedals to be placed after the fuzz but before the output stage, which can affect how they interact with the distorted signal. The Big Muff Deluxe operates on a standard 9V DC power supply and features true bypass switching for a clean signal when disengaged.
